Well hello there! I am safe for another day! About I month ago…I received the dreaded Juror Summons. UGH. I had to do it last year, luckily just went in for the morning and didn’t get questioned. This week I’ve had to call every night to see if I have to report the following morning- and so far, so good!!! (Fingers major-ly crossed). I actually don’t work at my camp this week, our enrollment is so low that all of the counselors only work every other week, boo! I love it my job so I’m actually pretty bummed, not to mention the dollaz. I still teach swim lessons for a couple hours in the AM, and I got a boatload of errands done yesterday so it’s cool.
Breakfast in the gah-den…
Annnnnd lunch on the couch
Little babe apple.
So my neighbor grew a bunch of summer squash that I pictured a while back, and I decided to roast some for dinner. I basically cut and seasoned them like I do with sweet potatoes or B-nut squash- Verdict: Meh, not so good.
I roasted it with broccoli, and I must say- roasted veggies is not my fave preparation. I think I prefer sauteed or grilled veggies, these just tasted burnt!
Eaten with muchos leftovers from the party.
Heather said she’d be sad to see an absence of frozen yogurt on Banana Cabana, can’t have that!!
Alright time to hop in the pool! My camera is really no bueno and frustrating me…so I don’t know if I’ll blog for a few, see ya when I see ya!!

i think its because summer squash is a “softer” veggie- if that makes any sense.. i feel like sweet potatoes or b-squash hold up better on the roasting pan!
i went to jury duty once, and they delayed it for a year. i had just come back from a vacation and drove all the way there (an hour) they told me i didnt have to come.. booo! but they ended up delaying so i got to go home and kick back for the rest of the day!

I definitely like my summer squash sauteed, not roasted. I hear ya there!
Fro-yo + sprinkles = pretty, pretty.

I’m lucky in that I’ve never been summoned! Knock on wood of course
Summer squash is only good sauteed or grilled me thinks! I’ve never tried it roasted and based on your review – I probably won’t! Enjoy the pool time!!

Ya I tried the roasting summer squash before and ended up with mush!
Pretty fro-yo!!!

I always love the flowers and the fro yo on your blog. It should practically be a sub-title (Banana Cabana: Flowers & Fro Yo).
Sooo I am going up to NC in a couple weeks and am thinking about making a pit stop in Atlanta at Trader Joe’s. Any “must gets” if I do? I would probably have no more than 30 minutes there, and I have a feeling I could probably spend 3 hours there!

It’s been ages since I’ve had summer squash…I don’t even remember what it tastes like! Isn’t it basically just like yellow zucchini? I don’t remember
Sorry you didn’t like yours though
Old butternut just can’t be beat, eh?

i have never been summoned for jury duty! ahck i will cross my fingers for you! mmm the ice cream is making me drool..
July 8, 2009 at 11:45 am
I’m totes not a fan of the roasted veg either — too mushy and soggy in my opinion, no?
boo — jury duty.. hope they don’t get ahold of you.. don’t they know you’ve got better things to do?! like grocery shop and eat froyo.. durrrr!

Ah, jury duty… I had it last summer and was the very first person bounced from the pool. Apparently I’m too blonde and white to sit on a jury for a crack cocaine dealer in an urban area…

LOL, I’m one of the few people that LIKES jury duty. I’ve been called 6+ times and have never been selected to sit on a jury. I keep crossing my fingers, lol.

I had a disappointing squash the other day too. Unripe kabocha stinks! I do generally like roasted veggies though.

Ick. I’ve never had to do jury duty and I hope I can continue to escape it forever. Unfortunately, I just moved to a much smaller county and it seems that people here get called at least every few months.
That fro yo made my mouth water. I love sprinkles!

Horray for more sprinkled fro-yo!!!
July 8, 2009 at 6:25 pm

and jury summons…oh the fun. i’ve been on two juries and have had to call in for one…such a hassle. but i think the first one you get is actually a good experience!

Summer squash has got nothing on winter squash. So sorry summery veg but you lose!
I WANT that fro yo. SO badly.
July 8, 2009 at 8:14 pm
summy squash is really good if you sprinkle it with pepper and then put it on a panini press!
July 9, 2009 at 6:04 am

i ADORE the way those little cherry tomatoes look sliced in half on the open faced sammie!
way to get back to your fro yo roots
July 9, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I can’t get enough froyo- so freaking good! Bummer about the camp work only being every other week
Do you think there are less kids because of the economy? Sad stuff. Good eats overall- what a great looking sammy
