Thank you guys so much for all of your congrats! I will start training for tutoring the little kiddies soon- I’ll keep ya updated! I saw new comments from new friends
And I promise I’ll get back to all of you and stop by your blogs. I had a really busy day yesterday, I woke up super early to study…and then decided at the last minute NOT to go to a basketball game which would have put me home way later than I wanted. I often have a really hard time deciding between doing what I need to do, for myself, versus doing something social that I know will be fun and also good for me. In other words, I often confuse taking time for me, or doing what I need to do, with being reclusive or isolating. I think I managed to differentiate the two last night, and staying home was definitely the better option, so hopefully NOW I can go out tonight
.
B: Cereal, Banana, Oikos (yay!) and PB- I forgot my flax!
I packed my lunch for school. English muffin sam, crackers, carrots, strawberries and Chocolate Raspberry Luna. Unfortunately, I don’t really like the combo of Fruit and Chocolate, and I thought this was Peppermint Stick when I bought it! Learn how to read, right!?
Luna Bar- Chocolate Raspberry- My Review: This was pretty good, if you like Fruit and Chocolate together! Unfortunately, I do not. Also, I was expecting a minty taste..so I was altogether very confused throughout the first half of consumption.
I just realized ALL of my pictures are taken on my kitchen counter..weird. I stopped at Starbizzle for a treat. Starbucks is one of those places for me, like Subway…that just makes me so happy when I go inside! No matter what po-dunk town you may be in- good ol’ Starbucks and Subway always come through with that familiar scent and some source of nourishment you know you can trust!
Momz and I went to Whole Foods for din- amazing! I got this fatty salad with all their delish hot bar stuff. I started to write, “Sorry guys, I didn’t get a picture..Shoot!” (said in an overly cheesy dramatic tone)….But then I remembered Erin’s reference to inappropriate guilt…and I thought, “Am I seriously feeling bad for not taking a picture!?” In that vein…I’m SO sorry you guys are missing out on one picture of a bunch of random crap thrown into a box with crappy store lighting!!! Boo ya!
Dessert: Yozen Frogurt
Trail mix!
SO for tonight…I bought my first whole B-nut Squashy to make for dinner! Exciting right!? I need help on how to cut it…It’s pretty big, so I’ll probably use half, and I don’t know whether to start with the weird long end, or the wierd round end…Sarah- If I hear, “That’s what she said”, You’re outta here! I’m sure I could just Google this, but it’s much more entertaining to hear it from all of you

Hey sweets, don’t worry about taking time for yourself. I think that is always a good decision!
I’m not really a fruit and chocolate person either. Chris bought this raspberry chocolate coffee creamer and we ended up dumping it out. Nast.
For the squash, I always cut mine in half the long ways, so you get the long end and the round, wetter end all in one batch. THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!!!!
February 20, 2009 at 8:18 am
I love how you have a mug with yyour name on it!
February 20, 2009 at 8:19 am
See, that’s why I haven’t gone for the b-nut yet. I’m terrified to cut into it.
I adore alone time, but sometimes feel exactly like you do! But it’s so necessary to being a healthy, happy human being!
Yeah, chocolate should be combined with nuts, peanutbutter or more chocolate.
HAVE FUN TONIGHT!!! I hope you go out
February 20, 2009 at 8:20 am
hehe, erin taught me how to tackle squash…the way to go is cheat a bit by throwing it in the microwave for a few mins first, it softens it up so you dont break your wrist off when you’re cutting…then just chuck a knife at it. btw, starbucks gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling every time i walk through the door…addiction red flag?
February 20, 2009 at 8:22 am
taking time for yourself is always time well spent, and now I’m sure your all charged up to go out tonight =) I don’t really like that fruit and chocolate combo – its just kinda weird tasting to me – hope you have some fun tonight and a great weekend!
February 20, 2009 at 8:23 am
I always cut the skin off and cut it long ways. Then I sed it and cube it so I can roast it! Yumm!!
February 20, 2009 at 8:24 am
DEFINITELY take time for yourself, girl!!
I’m having b-nut squash tonight too!! Have fun with it!!
February 20, 2009 at 8:26 am
your b-fast mug is so cute!!
Bummer about the bar…the peppermint stick is one of my favorites!!!
February 20, 2009 at 8:36 am
When you let me know how you tackled your squash, you can let me know how to do it because I need to get one!! I have yet to try spagheti squash and have REALLY been wanting to. I’m excited to see how it turned out for you!
Have a GREAT weekend : )
February 20, 2009 at 8:56 am
Hope you get some time to yourself! I also find fruit and chocolate weird together in bars. I do like apples and melted chocolate for dessert though!!
February 20, 2009 at 9:12 am
I often tend to confuse “alone time” or time to get stuff done (hw, etc) with “isolating myself”. I’m glad you differentiated the two last night, that’s a great achievement, yo!
I don’t like chocolate and fruit combos either. Fruit is for health and chocolate is for dessert…keep them separate, kz?!
Love you! Have fun with your b-nut adventures
February 20, 2009 at 9:15 am
Don’t feel bad for taking a night off for yourself. We all need time to just relax and be alone. It sounds like you are balancing that with social activities, which is good.
February 20, 2009 at 9:52 am
I’m not a big subway eater but the smell of the store – AMAZE!
Girlfraaaaaan’ once I’m out of the Chobs, I plan on giving Oikos a shot thanks to your suggestion!
Enjoy your squashtastic adventures – I’ve tried cutting it both ways and my guns get more of a workout cutting it hot dog style (long way
)

Starbucks gives me that feeling too! It’s my cup and place of motivation with I need it!
I totally agree with the inappropriate guilt bit! When I first started blogging, I used to apologize all of the time about not taking pictures and for cell phone quality ones. I recently discovered that I don’t like reading other people’s apologies for not taking or poor quality pictures, so I decided to stop doing it myself. I might slip sometimes, but overall, is it really necessary?

hi hun,
and the training the lil kids sounds like fun!
glad everythings going so well for you
i think you bring up a good point alot of us struggle with..knowing when to take time for ourselves vs. being social…theres definetly some balance involved but it sounds like uve got the hang of it
have a great night!
and yummy eats!
much love
xxxx
February 20, 2009 at 11:16 am
do I see some pink sprinkle action going on with that icecream
my kinda gal!
thats right, SORRY FOR NOTHING!
I do that with bars a lot…oppsss! the packaging looks alike on so many!
you know, I only ever buy the squash that are like 1 serving size ones.. so I use it all! I have no advice!
February 20, 2009 at 11:23 am
Great to hear things are going well for you. Delicious eats! And I love your cute morning mug!
February 20, 2009 at 11:29 am
I peel it with a veggie peeler, then I cut it where the weird end meets the long end. Then I cut those in half and start making fry shapes.
February 20, 2009 at 11:41 am
I agree with Andrea about peeling it with a veggie peeler, just don’t put the peels down the garbage disposal. I may have made that mistake before
February 20, 2009 at 12:07 pm
HI!! I’m new to your blog and just wanted to say hello! I don’t have a blog of my own, but love to read for recipe inspiration/to pass the time at work – haha.
Anywhoo I caught on to the bnut squash trend a few weeks ago (don’t worry, you’re not too far behind) and I have to say that I don’t waste time peeling the skin off. If I’m making fries, once they cook, the skin isn’t really hard and is actually good (in my opinion). I have never tried microwaving but probs should because I try soo hard to chop up the squash and it slips all over the counter … aka me, with a large knife, outta control. Not good.
Keep blogging – I love reading!

you gotta take time for yourself. i used to have a problem telling people no when i got invited places, or like i had to make up and excuse, but now i know a simple “no thanks” is enough.

February 20, 2009 at 5:55 pm
hahaha this is so true “No matter what po-dunk town you may be in- good ol’ Starbucks and Subway always come through with that familiar scent and some source of nourishment you know you can trust” it made me laugh out loud….too funny!
February 20, 2009 at 5:56 pm
Ive been in some SKETCHIE towns…and when you see that Subway sign off in the distance it is like a beacon of hope. I felt that way on my honeymoon- we came across a couple Subways in some random cities and I was overjoyed!!!!
February 20, 2009 at 6:46 pm
You can never go wrong with Starbucks and Subway!
February 20, 2009 at 8:09 pm
Also, I was expecting a minty taste..so I was altogether very confused throughout the first half of consumption. – Ha, this cracked me up Caroline.
I’m glad you enjoyed some time with yourself last night, and that you’re not feeling inappropriate guilt! Good for you.
I always slice my butternut into chips…just slice from top to bottom, and then cut the discs lengthwise into fries. You’ll have to scrape the seeds out when you get to the butt. I find the best way to crisp up the fries is by placing a baking rack on a foil covered cookie. Spray the rack with Pam, and then place your fries on it. Then I spray the fries with Pam and add salt/spices. Bake at 425 for 35-40 minutes and then put under the broiler for a minute or two to get them all crispy crunchy. Enjoy!

Whoo, girl! My IQ goes waaaay up with the fb threads, fo sho! Addddd meeeeee!
February 20, 2009 at 11:37 pm
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who didnt like that Luna Bar! I LOVE the peppermin stick one and I thought they might be similar but no. Not. Even. Close. Oh, and I am in love with starbucks. Too bad all my favorite stuff is the stuff I should rarely drink.
I’m glad you got some good time to yourself! Hope you have a great weekend!!
February 21, 2009 at 2:25 am
Ah, yes, the familiar smell of Starbucks and Subway–haha, I totally know what you mean. I think it’s kind of nice and dependable that no matter where you are in the world, they all smell the same!
February 21, 2009 at 7:43 am
Never was a huge fan of butternut squash, so no help here! Hope you have a chance to relax this weekend!
February 21, 2009 at 8:16 am
Ahhhh I have the SAME EXACT problem!!! I am ALWAYS occupying myself with activities and then feel like I never have time to relax but at the same time I hate just sitting around having nothing to do! Hahah. Then theres the nights where you feel like you should go see your friends but all you really want to do is sleep
February 21, 2009 at 12:18 pm
I tagged you!
February 21, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I LOVE the subway “smell”. It always make me huuungry.
Don’t do half the squash, do the WHOLE thing. Come on now, as soon as you start eating it you know you’re going to regret not having made the whole thing. I just lob those suckers right in half the long way and then I usually chop the long end into pieces and just bake the fat end in two large pieces. Mmmm squash!
February 21, 2009 at 1:51 pm
the bnut is intimidating! i prefer cutting it in half the long way, but if that’s too daunting, cut off the ball at the end and then decide if you (1) want to stuff it or (2) want to make something in strips, like fries. The ball’s better for stuffing; other end’s better for fries. (save the seeds to toast, and don’t worry about taking off the skin bc you can eat that, too!)
LOVE chocolate + fruit, and i didn’t even know choc-rasp luna existed. telepath it this way, please!
and you’re right — no feeling bad for forgotten/neglected pics allowed!
February 21, 2009 at 2:40 pm
I feel the same way about fruit + chocolate! There have only been two exceptions that I can think of to this rule: trail mix and the Kashi raspberry chocolate bar. I didn’t like that Luna bar, either!
I thought that Erin was so dead on with that inappropriate guilt. I am so “guilty” of that
But I’m trying my best to talk myself out of that train of thought now. Glad to see you are too!
Good luck with the squash! I find that the easiest way to cut it is if you heat it up in the microwave first. Then you can choose whatever side you want because it’s mushy and easier to slice!
February 21, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Time for yourself is ALWAYS important!!!!
